Hello, and happy November! Golly, is it really November already? A few days ago, I took this photo through the windshield of my car as I drove through my neighborhood. Every autumn, I am so awestruck by the beauty that abounds. Don’t you just love fall, y’all?

I want to do something completely different today. I think this is going to be fun. I usually write about all things Scottish, but on this gorgeous Monday, I am going to share with you fifteen totally random things about me. It’s a “get to know me better” post. Let’s have some fun.
I am addicted to jigsaw puzzles. Seriously, if Mr. C buys me any more, they are going to need their own room.
My favorite color is blue – all shades.
Though I love blue, I drive a yellow car. Her name is Sophia.
Something that most people don’t know about me (and might be
horrified surprised to learn): I occasionally smoke a cigar – while sipping a dram of Lagavulin, of course!
I hate, abominate, and despise confrontation of any kind.
My claim to fame: I am related to Nigel Kneale, the British screenwriter and creator of (amongst other things) the television science-fiction serials, Quatermass and his brother Bryan, who is a renowned sculptor.
Five songs on my rather eclectic playlist:
“April Sun in Cuba” by Dragon
“Here and Now” by Letters to Cleo
“Buddy” by Willie Nelson
“Hold My Hand” by Jess Glynne
“Valerie” by Amy Winehouse
My favorite ice cream is peppermint, but it makes me sad that I can only find it at Christmas. Even then, it’s hard to come by.
I got to meet B.B. King in 1994. He was really nice!
I thoroughly enjoy my own company. Even as a child, my mom said I could play alone, contentedly for hours.
My favorite smell in all the world is lilac.
My first job (besides babysitting) was working the drive-through window at McDonald’s. I still get shivers thinking about it. 😀
I have never broken a bone even though, by rights, I should have on four separate occasions. Knock on wood!
One of my favorite Scriptures is Isaiah 40:31:
Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
And last but not least, I love animals. I am a sucker for the underdogs, the ones that are the least adoptable. I currently have three fur kids, one of whom is older, blind, hard of hearing, and has to wear a diaper.
Want to join in the fun? Maybe you’d like to make your own list so we can get to know you better too!
Have a wonderful week, friends!
xo,

This is so fun!!! The cigar thing did surprise me though!!
Haha, I know a few others that would be surprised too.
😉
It’s great to learn more about you and I love the doggies!
Thank you, Debbie! 🙂
All great things to know about you. Here’s one about me, I’ve met Diana Gabaldon, creator of the Outlander books, on a number of occasions, most recently when I was in Canada last month! She is working on book number 9.
Wow, that is really cool, Darlene!
I thought you would think so. xo
Fun! I’ll play.
1. My favorite, favorite fun is downhill skiing.
2. I still can’t believe, even 27 years later, that I actually completed a doctorate. Maybe someone else did it for me and the letters just magically appeared after my name.
3. I’m a gregarious introvert.
4. Book titles pop into my head all the time. Wish the story would.
5. Sometimes I fantasize about living by the sea in the Highlands of Scotland.
I love your list. I have never skied in my life. If I were to try now, I’m sure I would kill myself, lol. I seriously dream of your #5 as well!
I always enjoy reading these lists. 🙂
I like reading them too, Jim. 🙂
An easy peppermint ice cream – get a large tub of vanilla ice cream. Let it soften a little. Add peppermint oil a drop at a time, to taste. If you want to add a final delicate swirl of red food colouring to distinguish it, when you’ve got the taste right, that would be a nice touch.
In case it’s not obvious, one of my favourite things is cooking. And now you’ve given me the idea for my next blog!
Ha, you know it never even occurred to me that I could make my own. I could also add crushed peppermint sticks. Thank you so much for the idea!
This is fun! Thanks!
Thanks! 🙂
I was just thinking we were pretty similar – I love my own company and prefer walking alone, I love animals, I hate confrontation of any kind – but… I’ve broken most of the bones in my body during my various outdoor adventures (it hurts – a lot!)
😀
